Klimanarrativet har alltid vært ledsaget av skremsler og vi har fått utallige dommedagsprofetier av typen X vil skje «fordi klima» ved et bestemt tidsrom. Aktørene er mange og det fins til og med et eget nettsted Extinction Clock som samler opp klimaprofetiene. Her er redaksjonens utvalg fra samlingen.
Verdens undergang 2026 eller 2031?
USA-politiker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez er den siste i en lang rekke naturfaglige nulliteter som er skråsikker på undergangen i et bestemt år «…world will end in 12 years...». Mer besynderlig er det at også professorer som burde vite bedre, opererer i samme skala, her biologen Guy McPherson (Arizona Univ.) med «in 10 years, humans will cease to exist.» Dette var i 2016, så her er det kort tid igjen for de troende.
Noen aktører er litt mindre skråsikre, og utelater årstallet for undergangen, eller de lar være å nevne hva dommedag består av. Her er britenes fhv statsminister kreativ og tar nedtellingen i dager. I 2009 hadde vi 50 dager på oss til redde kloden fra effektene av global oppvarming.
Det isfrie Arktis
Hvis vi ser på mer spesifikke skremsler, så er det isfrie Arktis det vanligste, altså at havisen smelter. Al Gores profeti er den mest kjente, og bidro til en delt tildeling av Nobels Fredspris. Her er forsker Peter Wadhams (2016)-skremsel, men til tross for at havisen senere har økt siden det lave nivået i 2012, så er dette en gjenganger. Her er en studie som sier Arktis kan bli isfri om sommeren så snart som i 2044, eller senest i 2069. Slike studier er modellbaserte, forutsetter en sterk menneskeskapt oppvarming og får bare finansiering hvis de støtter et mer eller mindre apokalyptisk narrativ.
De mest uvitende skremmer med at dette ( i strid med Archimedes lov) medfører flom eller sterk havstigning. En variant av dette skremslet bruker det isfrie Grønland og en havstigning på 6-7 meter hvis alt smelter, helt uvitende om at menneskeheten har kjent til i ca 140 år at gravitasjonseffekten vil medføre havsenkning ved eller nær Grønland, ingen effekt i nordvestre Europa og mest havstigning på den andre siden av kloden.
Også Bjerknessenteret i Bergen spredte i 2009 feilaktig informasjon om havstigning i Norge, hvor de unnlot å ta hensyn til gravitasjonseffekten, fordi de mente den var omdiskutert. Her retter prof. Willy Fjeldskaar (UiS) drepende kritikk mot Bjerknessenterets kreative omgang med fakta. Det førte til nye. lavere tall fra Bjerknes, men etter at Fjeldskaar gikk bort, har Bjerknes skremt forvaltning og politikere med nyere og vesentlig høyere tall. Helt uten nærkontakt med virkeligheten.
Langvarig klimaskremming
I de fleste land er fokus nå på kvantitet i utdanningen, ikke på kvalitet som tidligere. Resultatet er at vi har for mange akademikere, og opptil 80% av dem er helt eller delvis ubrukelige. I politisk korrekt klimaforskning er det, til tross for særdeles gavmilde politikere, hard konkurranse om forskningsmidlene. Det er mange politikere som heller vil bruke midlene på fagfelter hvor det er lettere å se problemet, og gjerne rett under nesetippen istedet for på den ande siden av kloden. Det gjelder derfor å skremme, helst i et samrøre med ledende medieaktører.
De forskerne som har vært med lengst, startet sin karriere lenge før FNs klimapanel ble dannet, og de pekte på en langvarig temperaturnedgang som startet rundt 1940, en nedgang som de i dag helst ikke vil snakke om i det hele tatt, til tross for at ca 35 års nedkjøling er et sikkert tegn på at menneskets utslipp bare har bagatellmessig påvirkning på klima.
Her er TIME Magazine, med oppslag fra 24.juni 1974 over hele 2 sider:
«Whatever the cause of the cooling trend, its effects could be extremely serious, if not catastrophic. Scientists figure that only a 1% decrease in the amount of sunlight hitting the earth’s surface could tip the climatic balance, and cool the planet enough to send it sliding down the road to another ice age within only a few hundred years.»
Metodene dengang var basert på kjente observasjoner i naturen og gjetning om konsekvensene, mens metodene idag er basert på villendende klimamodeller, og en så ufeilbarlig oppfatning av at bare mennesket varmer opp kloden, at det nå er akseptert å forfalske dataene for oppvarming. Klimapanelets påstand (6.hovedrapport) om 1.03 graders oppvarming siden førindustriell tid er IKKE i samsvar med det termometrene viser.
I 1974 het det at 1% variasjon i sollys på kloden vår kunne tippe oss inn i en ny istid, men i dag utelukker politikerne og deres bukk-og-havresekk forskere at tilsvarende variasjon i varmere retning kan ha noen målbar effekt.
