Kuldesjokk i «verdens kaldeste by»
Den russiske byen Jakutsk, som regnes for å være et av de kaldeste stedene på jorda, setter nå kulderekorder. Torsdag krøp gradestokkene ned til svimlende 62 minusgrader, skriver blant andre CNN.
Ifølge meteorologene har det ikke vært så kaldt i byen, som ligger i Republikken Sakha i Øst-Russland, på 200 år.
Innbyggerne i byen er vant til bitende kulde, men temperaturene de siste dagene har vært ekstreme selv for dem, ifølge CNN.
– Du kan ikke slå kulda. Enten tilpasser du deg og kler deg etter forholdene, eller så lider du, sier Anastasia Gruzdeva til nyhetsbyrået Reuters.
En kvinne som selger fisk på et utendørs marked forteller til nyhetsbyrået at de ikke har noen hemmelig oppskrift for å beskytte seg mot kulda.

Jakutsk har rundt 350 000 innbyggere og beskrives av CNN som en av de raskest voksende regionale byene i Russland. Byen har konstant permafrost, som vil si at temperaturen i bakken i løpet av to sammenhengende år ikke overstiger 0 grader Celsius, ifølge Store Norske Leksikon.
