Nobelprisvinnere til besvær
Vi omtaler to nye tilfeller av akademisk klimasensur nylig. Fjorårets Nobelprisvinner i Fysikk ble kansellert av IMF, og Springer, som er ett av de største forlagene for forskningslitteratur, ble igjen presset av mafiøse klimaforskere til å trekke tilbake klimaforskning. Ikke fordi det var feil i forskningen, men fordi den ikke var tilstrekkelig politisk korrekt.
Nobelprisvinnere til besvær
Nobelprisvinnere er alltid ettertraktede som foredragsholdere og skribenter, med mindre de banner i klimakirken. En av de første som fikk erfare dette var Ivar Giæver, som fikk oppleve å bli sensurert vekk i det aller meste av norsk presse, etter at han hadde skrevet fornuftig om klima i Aftenposten i kronikken «De forunderlige klimamytene.» Dette ble for sterkt både for avisens misjonerende klimajournalister, og for de fleste andre medier.
Fjorårets Nobelprisvinner i fysikk, Dr. John Clauser, har som mange andre ledende fysikere sagt klart ifra at det eksisterer ingen klimakrise. Han har spisskompetanse på klimamodellering, og har arbeidet med effekten av sollys som reflekteres av skydekket – en effekt som er fullstendig fraværende i de modellene IPCC støtter seg på – og som er ca 200 ganger sterkere enn effekten av CO2 på klodens temperatur.
Denne uken skulle Clauser ha holdt et Zoom-foredrag for IMF om klimamodeller, men IMF-ledelsen kansellerte brått foredraget etter å ha fått nyss om kritikken av IPCC-leirens modeller.
Dr. John Clauser, har som mange andre ledende fysikere sagt klart ifra at det eksisterer ingen klimakrise. Han har også kommet med sterk kritikk av fjorårets Nobelpris i fysikk til klimamodellering (se Klimanytt 308) og har siden mai 2023 arbeidet med folkeopplysning om klima som styremedlem i CO2 Coalition. Medienarrativet om klimaendringer reflekterer en farlig korrupsjon of vitenskap som truer global økonomi og velferden til milliarder av mennesker. Villedende klimaforskning har som en kreftsvulst spredd seg som apokalyptisk-journalistisk kvasivitenskap. Denne kvasivitenskapen har igjen blitt syndebukk mye som er trist og leit rundt omkring.

Den virkelige utfordringen er å legge til rette for økt levestandard for klodens fattigste, og å sikre forsyningen av energi til en voksende befolkning. Kvasivitenskapen på klimafeltet bidrar til å skape en energikrise.
Mafiøse forskningsaktivister
Det har siden Climategate-skandalen i 2009 (se Klimanytt 267 og oppsummeringen fra McIntyre og McKitrick) vært kjent at et nettverk av klimaforskere har arbeidet intenst for å hindre at klimaforskning som er kritisk til IPCC-leirens narrativ skal bli publisert. Sentrale skikkelser var Michael «Piltdown» Mann og Climate Research Unit-miljøet ved East Anglia-universitetet i England, mens perifere deler av nettet som mottok de skandaløse epostene inkluderte Potsdam-instituttet i Tyskland og Bjerknessenteret i Bergen ved klimaforsker Eystein Jansen.
Dette edderkopplignende nettverket så på trakassering av redaktører i vitenskapelige tidsskrifter som en viktig oppgave, og i mange tilfeller fikk nettverket avskjediget redaktører og i ett tilfelle fikk nedlagt et tidskrift – ikke fordi det ble begått feil, men fordi redaktørene mente det måtte være tillatt å komme med faglig kritikk av IPCC-leirens forskning når denne ikke holdt mål.
Nå har hr. «Piltdown» Mann vært på ferde igjen, sammen med sin tyske tvilling Rahmstorf fra Potsdam-instituttet, etter at klimaforskeren Gianluca Alimonti med kolleger i januar 2022 fikk publisert forskningen «A critical assessment of extreme events trends in times of global warming» hos Springer-forlaget.
Alimontis forskning som først fikk ubetydelig med medieomtale, konkluderte med at det ikke finnes noen klimakrise og at det ikke finnes betydelige spor fra menneskets påvirkning i ekstremværshendelser – altså for det meste samme konklusjon som i den siste IPCC-rapporten. Men eksistensen av slik forskning, ispedd noen få kjetterske betraktninger fra forskerne, var selvfølgelig ikke tolerabel hverken for de grønneste journalistene eller for klikken rundt «Piltdown» Mann. De gikk til angrep 8 måneder senere med dette oppslaget i The Guardian, og så økte aktivistene presset på forlaget.
Manns kritikk inkluderte ironisk nok «applying inappropriate methods to data they don’t understand», en beskrivelse som passer nær perfekt til hans egen Hockekølleforskning, som ble slaktet av USAs statistikere i to større vurderingsrapporter.
Stefan Rahmstorf fra Potsdam-instituttet gikk ut med krav om at forskningen måtte trekkes tilbake, uten å oppgi en saklig grunn, «retracted» som det heter på fagspråket.
Interessant her er at ingen av forskerne som kritiserte Alimonti var interessert i å sende forlaget en faglig kritisk kommentar for publisering, nivået de la seg på var ren skittkasting i The Guardian. Dette mønsteret IPCC-leirens mer useriøse forskere følger er godt kjent fra flere andre vestlige land.
Pikant i saken er at Alimontis forskergruppe inkluderte prof. Prodi, en distingvert klimaforsker og mangeårig redaktør i Springer-forlaget (!), omtalt som «just a nuclear physics dude» av Hr. Mann.
Springer-forlaget ble presset til å foreta en ‘undersøkelse’ og Alimont ble underrettet om at hans tekst hadde en klar svakhet (clear weakness). Denne svakheten bestod i at han ikke hadde sitert IPCCs 2022-rapport, den sjette hovedrapporten som ikke var publisert og derved ikke var siterbar da han sendte egen forskning til Springer, noe Alimont påpekte i sitt første svar. Det var derfor han hadde sitert 2014-rapporten istedet.
Springer forlangte så at Alimont måtte forfatte et errata og sitere den nyeste IPCC-rapporten. Alimont mente det fikk holde med et addendum, og sendte dette inn, hvoretter det ble foretatt fagfellevurdering. Av 4 fagfeller ville 3 publisere, siden det ikke forelå feil, mens den siste ikke ville publisere addendumet.
Forslaget bestemte seg så for å trekke selve den publiserte forskningen i stedet for å publisere addendumet, siden det nå var oppstått ‘problemer’ med selve addendumet. I bakgrunnen gledet aktivistene seg over nok en seier.
Klimaforsker Roger Pielke Jr har skrevet en lengre tekst om saken på sin blogg «The Honest Broker», og har oversendt en rekke kritiske spørsmål til forlaget, spørsmål Springer til nå ikke har svart på.
Hva mener så IPCC om ekstremvær?
Vi avslutter med en tabell fra FNs Klimapanel som viser hvilken mangel det er på trender i ekstremvær og hvor lite mennesket påvirker – allerede i dag og i modelleringen av spådd virkelighet i RCP 8,5-scenariet i år 2050 og senest i år 2100. Figuren er hentet herfra, tabell nr 12.12.
Hvite felt er null effekt, blå felt er synsing (medium confidence betyr at de antar) og orange felt er høy sannsynlighet.
