Det er ikke bare i Nord-Amerika vinteren har rast de siste dagene. Store mengder med snø har falt i de nordlige regionene i Japan i julehelgen.

17 personer skal ha omkommet og flere enn 90 personer har blitt skadd, ifølge myndighetene i landet, skriver The Guardian.

Flere av de omkomne skal ha falt mens de fjernet snø fra taket sitt eller ha blitt begravd under store mengder med snø. Det skal ha kommet over en meter snø enkelte steder.

Over tjue tusen husstander har stått uten strøm over jula og flere hundre kjøretøy har kjørt seg fast på veiene.
