Det ble en kald start og en varm slutt på årets mai måned. Samlet var gjennomsnittet 0,3 grader under normalen.
I Troms og Finnmark var det opptil 2 grader kaldere.
– Månedstemperaturen for hele landet lå 0,3 grader under normalen. Relativt kaldest var det i Troms og Finnmark, der enkelte stasjoner hadde avvik på opptil 2 grader under normalen, sier klimaforsker Jostein Mamen ved Meteorologisk institutt ifølge en pressemelding.

Kjøligere enn normalen i Arktis
Jan Mayen var den varmeste stasjonen, med en gjennomsnittstemperatur på 0,3 grader (0,1 grad under den nye 1991-2020-normalen). Kongsøya var kaldest med -6,6 grader i gjennomsnitt (her er det ingen normal ennå).
Gjennomsnittstemperaturen på Svalbard lufthavn var -3,4 grader, som er 1,2 grader under normalen. På Hopen var månedstemperaturen -3,4 grader, som er 1,4 grader under normalen. Bjørnøya endte også 1 grad under normalen, med en middeltemperatur på -1,2 grader.
Månedens høyeste maksimumstemperatur ble målt 27. mai. Jan Mayen registrerte da 11,3 grader. Den laveste minimumstemperaturen ble målt i Adventdalen med -16,5 grader 13. mai.
Vått i Oslo
I løpet av mai kom det hele 96,8 millimeter regn i Oslo, mens Bergen kun fikk 53,5 millimeter. Bare én gang tidligere har det vært større differanse enn i år, heter det i pressemeldingen.
Relativt våtest i mai var det imidlertid i Agder, der flere stasjoner fikk opptil 50 prosent mer nedbør enn normalt.
På landsbasis falt det 15 prosent mindre nedbør enn normalt.
– I Vestland fikk en rekke stasjoner fra 75 til 90 prosent mindre nedbør enn det som er normalt i mai, sier Mamen.
