–Det er «snømaggedon» her. Det er heilt ufatteleg kor mykje snø det er komme, sa Stephen Kulieke til Los Angeles Times tidlegare denne veka.
Han kunne då fortelja at hytta hans var gravlagt under minst 120 centimeter med puddersnø.
Ny desember-rekord
Måndag var det nemleg eit rekordstort snøfall i Sierra Nevada, der Kulieke har hytte. Tenestemenn ved «UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab», som ifølgje VG ligg på rundt 2100 meter over havet omtrent to timar frå storbyen Sacramento, har uttalt at snøfallet har overgått den førre desember-rekorden.
Rekorden kom i 1970, og var på om lag 4,2 meter.
Tysdag morgon registrerte laboratoriet at det var komme i overkant av 5 meter snø – noko som gjer desember til den tredje mest snørike månaden i området nokosinne!
